There has always been one big problem with batch processes – you never know the quality until the batch is finished. But not any more. With SIMCA-Batch On-Line (SBOL), you have the power to monitor batch evolution in real time.
SIMCA-Batch On-Line makes this possible using multivariate techniques combined with conventional SPC (Statistical Process Control), underpinned by a seamless graphical interface. Finally, you have the ability to react to quality issues as they happen.
SBOL brings understanding to your process, making early fault detection possible.
SIMCA-Batch On-Line is an execute module for Batch models built with the SIMCA-P+ off-line software. SIMCA-Batch On-Line gets batch data from the process (referred to as the external system or external database) at regular intervals, through different supported interfaces (e.g., OPC, PI, FIX, MOPS, Oracle, SQL), and/or from a file.
Note: SIMCA-Batch On-Line is also available with an Open interface API for developing custom solutions for other external systems (data sources)

Dashboard Monitoring
With a simple dashboard interface you can see, in real time, the status of several batches simultaneously in various unit operations. With just a single plot, investigate whether a new batch is developing normally.
|
|

|
Early Fault Detection
Simply click on the black line at any time to see how the underlying batch variables differ to normal behavior. In this way, SBOL highlights where the problem lies so that you can take remedial action in good time.
|
|

|
Flexibility
Another click of the mouse and SBOL shows you the evolution of an individual batch variable. With a range of options supporting each type of plot, SBOL gives you the flexibility to tailor the visualisation of your process. |

Three Implementation Levels
Early Fault Detection: A plot showing how the new batch is different from the normal behavior. SIMCA-Batch On-Line can be implemented at three levels in your environment:
1. Design & Control Space Monitoring
Umetrics’ multivariate batch modeling techniques map the dynamic nature of batch processes characterizing the design space and identifying process boundaries. Real-time monitoring assures consistent manufacturing and provides early fault detection.
2. Final QC Prediction
Predict the quality of your batch before it has finished. The benefits are obvious both in terms of improved quality and process knowledge gained.
3. Process Control
The ultimate step in process analysis. Make automatic adjustments to batches as they evolve based on intelligence gathered during previous batches. Turn problem batches into acceptable ones.
